February 18, 2019 by Corey A Edwards

Two Tails Ranch in North Central FloridaIf you’ve ever wanted to get up close and personal with an elephant then you should definitely consider a visit to North Central Florida’s Two Tails Ranch!

Two Tails Ranch is the only privately owned elephant facility of its kind. It boards elephants in need while also providing educational programs that promote elephant awareness.

One of the best ways to increase awareness of elephants is through interaction with them. Two Tails Ranch offers that in spades! Visitors to the ranch may have the opportunity to hand feed, ride, bathe, and otherwise interact with the elephants!

Elephants may not naturally occur in Florida but the state certainly has the right climate for them. They love it here and Two Tails Ranch provides them with a very peaceful 75 acres of green grass and live oaks.

The ranch has boarded more than 250 elephants since being founded in 1984. Some were temporary guests while others lived out the remainder of their lives here. Elephants arrive here for a variety of reasons. Some are “retired performers,” others have lost their homes or run into medical issues. Whatever the reason, Two Tails is here for them!

Dudley Farm Historic State ParkStep back in time with a visit to the fully-restored, antebellum Dudley Farm. This historic State Park in Newberry, Fl features living history demonstrations, special events, and more.

Historic Dudley Farm is a one-of-a-kind, thoroughly authentic, 325-acre, working farm and Florida state park.

The facility presents the evolution of North Florida farming, from the pioneer days of the 1850’s through to the gasoline-powered 1940’s. This era of change is presented from the perspective of the Dudley family, generations of whom lived out their lives here.

The Dudley family moved to North Central Florida, from Charleston, SC, in the mid-1800’s. Three generations of the family worked the then 640-acre farm, expanding it to a successful crossroads community, with a post office and general store.

Today, visitors can travel back in time at the facility to see what life was once like here.
