Mill Creek Farm Florida Retirement Home For HorsesMill Creek Farm, located just north of Alachua, Fl, is a 335-acre rest home for rescued and retired horses. The farm opens on Saturdays for those who would like to meet and feed treats to the more than 100 horses who live here.

Sunny Florida is a popular destination for a wide range of retirees. That’s not news to anyone I know – but for horses?

Horses are tireless and beautiful workers and companions. But what happens when they become too old to work or are no longer able to be cared for properly?

The unfortunate answer is that they are often neglected, starved, or otherwise abused.

Feeding and caring for a horse takes a lot money, time, and energy. It’s no wonder that those who are unprepared for this reality can so often fall short. Luckily, there are facilities like Mill Creek Farm whose very mission is caring for just these kinds of animals.

The Bradford County Strawberry Festival has enlivened Starke every spring, for the last 21 years. The popular event celebrates Bradford County’s annual strawberry harvest with two-days of food and fun in the sun.

Of course, there will be strawberries – and Bradford County strawberries are some of the best around. Don’t believe me? Come and find out for yourself! The festival offers fresh strawberries, strawberry ice cream, strawberry smoothies, and Berrylicious strawberry shortcake.

Food at the festival isn’t restricted to strawberries, however. You’ll also see food carts offering BBQ, fresh seafood, sandwiches, salads, hamburgers, hot dogs, and so much more.
