NHRA Gatornationals 2018One of the North Central Florida’s official first signs of spring is just around the corner: the 2018 NHRA Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway are scheduled for March 15th to the 17th, 2018!

2018 sees the 49th annual Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals. This traditional, East Coast opener has drawn fans and the world’s best drag racers alike to Gainesville for almost half a century!

And why not?

Who can resist NHRA professional level competition? We are talking 10,000-horsepower, nitro-fueled Top Fuel Dragster and Funny Car classes. We’ll also see 200-mph Pro Stock category. Gatornationals is also season opener for the Mello Yello Series Pro Stock Motorcycle and J&A Service Pro Mod categories.

If you like the spectacle fire-breathing, metal machines hurtling down the strip, you don’t want to miss the 2018 NHRA Gatornationals!

2018 NHRA Gatornationals Event Schedule

Friday, March 16th
Manufacturers Midway – 10am: In Nitro Alley until the beginning of the second Nitro qualifying session.
Nitro Qualifying – 1:30pm & 5pm: Catch the action of two sessions of 300 MPH Nitro qualifying.
First Round Follow Up: Get the scoop on Round 1 in the Pits from announcer Brian Lohnes.
Pro Stock Motorcycle Autograph Session – 10:30am: Jerry Savoie, Angie Smith, Scotty Pollacheck, Hector Arana, and Andie Rawlings at the NHRA Midway Display.
Toyota Autograph Session – 11am to 11:30am: At the Toyota Midway Display.
Jet Cars: See Larsen Motorsports jet dragsters propelled by jet engines after Nitro Qualifying.

Saturday, March 17th
Manufacturers Midway – 8:15am: Check out your favorite displays in Nitro Alley until the beginning of the fourth Nitro qualifying session.
Nitro Qualifying – 12:45pm & 3:15pm: The Pro drivers last chance to make it into the top 16 for Race Day.
Harley Davidson Autograph Session – 9:30am: Meet Andrew Hines and Eddie Krawiec at the Harley Davidson Midway Display.
Pro Stock Motorcycle Fan Appreciation – 10am to 10:45am: meet, greet, take pictures, and get autographs with Pro Stock Motorcycle drivers.
Nitro School – 10am: Learn all about Nitro with Alan Reinhart and Rob Wendland.
Mello Yello Autograph Session – 10:30am: Del Worsham, Clay Millican, Vincent Nobile and Jerry Savoie at the Mello Yello display.
Mopar Autograph Session – 10:45am: At the Mopar Midway display.
Meet and Greet – 2:15pm: Meet Leah Pritchett and Papa John at the NHRA Midway display.
Go Army Experience Challenge: Go head-to-head with the driver of the U.S. Army Top Fuel Dragster and NHRA Top Fuel World Champion, Tony Schumacher. This event follows the 3rd Nitro qualifying session.
Jet Cars: See Larsen Motorsports jet dragsters propelled by jet engines after Nitro Qualifying.

Sunday, March 18th
Manufacturers Midway – 9am: In Nitro Alley from 9 am until the beginning of the third round of Nitro eliminations.
Sealmaster Trackwalk – 9:45am: Walk the track at Gainesville Raceway with a few special guests from the Darrel Gwynn Foundation.
Race Day Review – 10am: Alan Reinhart runs down the top stories of the weekend before the Pre-Race ceremonies.
Pre-Race Ceremonies: Stick around the Mello Yello FanZone after the Trackwalk for driver introductions.
Race Day: The top 16 qualifiers in each class battle it out head to head for the Wally.
Winners Circle: Held at the starting line or in the staging lanes. Stay around after the race to watch the crowning of the Mello Yello event champions.
